Diameters (Needle Gauge): 25, 30, 35
Each produces a different size “pixel” in the skin.
Diameter 25 (0.25 mm):
Best for delicate contours and fine lines, as well as creating soft shading and hair-strokes on dry skin. This thin diameter yields very small pigment pixels, helping to achieve an elegant, refined effect. Needles of this size are also suitable for creating precise eyeliner on the eyelids.
Diameter 30 (0.30 mm):
The most popular and versatile diameter. These needles can be used on all areas — lips, eyebrows, and eyelids. To develop a good feel for needle penetration in the skin, we recommend that all beginner artists start with this 0.30 mm diameter, as it offers a balanced performance.
Diameter 35 (0.35 mm):
Commonly used in body tattooing for solid coloring and bold lines. In permanent makeup, this thicker needle is most often used on lips (especially for the watercolor technique) and on eyebrows for shading. It is not recommended to use 0.35 mm needles on the eyelids, as they are too heavy for that delicate area.
Taper Types (Needle Point Shape):
RLLT (Round Liner Long Taper): A long, sharp needle taper on a Round Liner configuration. This is the most popular needle type worldwide, and it’s most often used on oily or porous skin. The long taper allows for precise work and fine lines.
RLMT (Round Liner Medium Taper): A medium needle taper on a Round Liner. This configuration is less traumatic to the skin, making it suitable for mature or thin skin. With a medium taper, you can achieve a dense fill and a “lipstick” effect on lips. Because the needle doesn’t penetrate as deeply (the skin offers more resistance and the work stays more superficial), the likelihood of causing damage or mistakes is minimized.
RSLT (Round Shader Long Taper): A long, sharp taper on a Round Shader configuration. These needles are designed for filling, outlining, and shading small areas. The needles are grouped in a bundle like an RL, but they are slightly splayed at the very tip, which facilitates smooth shading without harsh lines.
